Spinal Flow
I believe that all bodies are self healing, so when we experience illness and pain it is because we are holding onto stress in our body that prevents it from healing.
I will often incorporate Spinal Flow into your healing sessions, either as a series of stand alone Spinal Flow sessions or as part of a longer session depending on your needs.
In Spinal Flow we separate the stressors into 3 categories; physical, chemical and emotional. These stressors create blockages in the spine which over time can cause postural changes and/or illnesses.
Spinal Flow Technique works through gentle touch on the body that connects with the nervous system to bring safety and ease in the body. In this state your body can heal symptoms such as anxiety, joint and muscle pain, inflammation in the body, kyphosis, scoliosis, headaches and many others. The beauty of this modality is that as your body comes back to a place of ease and flexibility symptoms will resolve.

If you have pain in your body, anxiety, insomnia, digestive issues, headaches, chronic illness or acute symptoms Spinal Flow can be helpful. The reason it is so broad is because a Spinal Flow treatment is supporting your nervous system to activate the self healing in your body. By moving your body out of the alert, sympathetic nervous system and into the restful, parasympathetic state, your body will take care of the healing. Simply bringing you into a restful state allows your immune system, digestive system and adrenal system to activate normally. You will reduce your cortisol responsible for many chronic illnesses (hello waking up at 3am) and increase your oxytocin, so you will feel safe and relaxed and able to sleep, further enhancing your body’s ability to heal.

A typical Spinal Flow session with me is 30mins, sometimes less for kids. Allow an hour for your first visit so we can do an initial assessment.

No. You will be fully clothed, although it would be great if you can avoid wearing jeans as I need to be able to make contact with your sacrum which can be hard with all the seams on jeans.

Ideally, you will be able to lie face down on the massage bed. If you can’t lie face down, the next best things is on your side. If you really can’t lie down at all, I can use points on your head while you are sitting up. If you have specialised mobility needs please call me to discuss so we can work out a plan.

In a session, I use gentle touch on your sacrum (back of your pelvis) and may also move to points on your head. I may also move around you body to increase the spinal wave. It is always gentle touch, you may not feel my touch at times as you are focused on what is going on inside your body. What I am looking for is the ‘spinal wave’ that travels through your body. This wave indicates that your body is ‘working’ to clear blockages and to bring you into a healing state. My intention is that every session will bring change to your body, and that all change is good.

How this treatment is experienced by my clients varies. Some people find that it is like a meditation, and they go into themselves and find the session to be very peaceful and rejuvenating. Others may feel their breathe increase and their body move with the ‘spinal wave’. It is not unusual to feel emotional, to cry or even feel unwell. Your body will respond as it needs to and you may find that it feel different, depending on whether the priority for your body is to clear emotional, physical or chemical blockages.
You may experience less pain and discomfort after a session, but sometimes, especially when the condition has existed for some time, possibly even decades, there may in fact be more pain for a while as the changes take place in your body. Please let me know if you are worried about any pain you have after a treatment so we can address it.

Some people will come to see me multiple times a day/week if their symptoms are acute. I find that the minimum for a treatment plan is weekly while you are experiencing symptoms but that is something that we can assess at your first session and is totally up to you.
